Mo' Money Taxes is under investigation, accused of failing to provide tax refunds, checks bouncing and taking fees from clients' accounts without their permission. Now, these same customers may be checked or forced to return their refund.

A complaint filed by the Office of Illinois Attorney General seeks to shut down places  Mo' Money Taxes  in the Chicago area and East St. Louis and the clients to repay at least $ 800,000 in estimated losses.

Although this tax season was tough for customers  Mo' Money Taxes , they could soon face another obstacle - an audit.

"We saw a lot of complaints coming in the last two weeks with people with financial difficulties," said Natalie Bauer, spokesman for the Office of the Attorney General of Illinois.

The Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed a lawsuit against the  Mo' Money Taxes, alleging that they have produced unauthorized federal income tax returns and charged "hidden fees and exorbitant for the services of tax preparation."

"Basically, without permission of the customer of the company went ahead and filed annual tax returns that were riddled with errors and they were charged enormous fees," Bauer said. "And for worse, worst of all, the company failed to provide customers with their rebate checks promised. "

In a statement announcing the lawsuit, the Attorney General said: "Money Memphis based Mo 'he announced programs tax refund anticipation mainly to low-income taxpayers as far from receiving and instantly switch refund. "

Bauer said they have issued a warning to customers  Mo' Money Taxes.

"If they have received a refund of Mo 'Money, they should not cash or deposit the check," she said. "Again, they should contact the IRS directly."

Taxpayers who have already cashed or deposited a refund check from Mo 'Money can also be an IRS audit and required to return their refund.

"We are filing the complaint on behalf of clients who struggled with society and so we hope to hold them accountable for our part," she said.

Consumers who have had tax returns processed by Mo 'Money is asked to contact the Internal Revenue Service at 800-829-1040.
